The autumn/winter season 2011 has just kicked off.
At our jewellery exhibition last month, I presented 4 important trend-themes for the coming season,
that I would like to share with you.
Each trend is visualized with a few images that I have styled and created especially for this presentation.
Enjoy the season!
THEME 1: THE ESSENTIAL
Due to the time we are living in, there is a strong tendency to move towards what is essential in our life.
We want to go back to the essence, back to the tradition.
Pureness & minimalism are important key words.
Less is more.

THEME 2: INTO THE WILD
We want to re-connect ourselves with our original habitat: nature.
There is still a growing interest for nature and especially the animal kingdom.
Inspiration for this theme are raw and organic surfaces and materials that come directly from the animals;
fur, leather, wool. Also all the handmade techniques that we know from the past, become more and more important.

THEME 3: FUN – FAIRY – FANTASY
We want to lose ourselves in a fantasy world, in a world of fun and pop culture as an important influence.
Naive shapes and symbols and a bright color pallet.
The other side of this theme is completely different though. Think about the ‘dark side’ of fairytale;
inspiration from movies like ‘ The Black Swan’ and gothic influences are bringing a completely different feel to the
fairytales-theme.

THEME 4: MIX MASH
This theme is about the disappearing of borders. We see the borders fading between different cultures. We use elements of design or patterns from ‘ far-away’ cultures
and use that in our own design. Also different techniques are being mixed; hypermodern techniques, like 3D printing, are blending with handmade techniques that we know from the past.
But think also about a mix of old and new, or a mix between different design disciplines, which is leading to a refreshing new way of designing our materials and products.
Art is also an important influence for this theme. This is leading to new kind of artistic patterns and color use.
