Trends – Autumn Winter 2011/2012

19 Sep

The autumn/winter season 2011 has just kicked off.
At our jewellery exhibition last month, I presented 4 important trend-themes for the coming season,
that I would like to share with you.
Each trend is visualized with a few images that I have styled and created especially for this presentation.
Enjoy the season!

THEME 1: THE ESSENTIAL
Due to the time we are living in, there is a strong tendency to move towards what is essential in our life.
We want to go back to the essence, back to the tradition.
Pureness & minimalism are important key words.
Less is more.

THEME 2: INTO THE WILD
We want to re-connect ourselves with our original habitat: nature.
There is still a growing interest for nature and especially the animal kingdom.
Inspiration for this theme are raw and organic surfaces and materials that come directly from the animals;
fur, leather, wool. Also all the handmade techniques that we know from the past, become more and more important.

THEME 3: FUN – FAIRY – FANTASY
We want to lose ourselves in a fantasy world, in a world of fun and pop culture as an important influence.
Naive shapes and symbols and a bright color pallet.
The other side of this theme is completely different though. Think about the ‘dark side’  of fairytale;
inspiration from movies like ‘ The Black Swan’  and gothic influences are bringing a completely different feel to the
fairytales-theme.

THEME 4: MIX MASH
This theme is about the disappearing of borders. We see the borders fading between different cultures. We use elements of design or patterns from ‘ far-away’ cultures
and use that in our own design. Also different techniques are being mixed; hypermodern techniques, like 3D printing, are blending with handmade techniques that we know from the past.
But think also about a mix of old and new, or a mix between different design disciplines, which is leading to a refreshing new way of designing our materials and products.
Art is also an important influence for this theme. This is leading to new kind of artistic patterns and color use.

Winter Wonderland

6 Sep

I know, it seems strange….the summer isn’t quiet finished yet, but we have launched our winter collections and therefore needed a real winter window! This window is located at our booth in Utrecht at the Jaarbeurs. I had so much fun decorating the window…let’s see if you enjoy it as well!

Too long ago…sorry!

14 Jun klein 017

It’s a real long time ago since I have last updated my blog, sorry for that.
What happened in the mean time…..

  • PURE got nominated for the VROUW Awards 2011 – category fashion Accessories.
Unfortunately we did not win this year, the HEMA won the award in this category
  • I have designed and launched the new collection of PURE for summer 2011 in some
nice summer-like colors; like blue jade, rose quartz etc.
  • Busy working on a new trend presentation for the AURUM jewelllery show in August 2011
  • And lots…lots…of other projects I will update you on later.

But first let me show some new rings with you….

Kelis

Last weekend I have been to a very cool gig in Paradiso; Kelis was performing there.
We were on the guestlist of this event due to one of our jewellery designers we work with: Rodrigo Otazu.
He is the designer of very expressive and special jewellery for the videoclip of Kelis. He also designed jewellery
for Sex & The City ( my favourtite movie all times), Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc.
See here our group photo after the show!

Kelis was very happy with her new jewellery pieces!
